Hands-On Liberia Mission Project

Hands-On Liberia Mission Project

The Maryville District has been asked to put together Food Buckets for the Liberia Hands-On Mission project.  First United Methodist has voted to provide at least 40 of these.  A $5.00 donation is needed for each bucket (to be used for packing and shipping).  We will provide the buckets.  The following list is for items for each bucket:

1 - 5 lb bag sugar     1 - 2 lb bag rice     1 - 2 lb bag dried beans

1 - box powdered milk (9 oz or less)      1 - box oatmeal (small or 18 oz)

1 - bottle cooking oil (48 oz or less)       2 cans (total) meat: ham, spam, or tuna

Please check the expiration dates (2013).

Community Outreach Day Camp Registration
Begins April 1st
The First United Methodist Church of Maryville is partnering with the staff from Camp Wesley Woods and offering a FREE and safe place where children in the local community can learn and grow. The camp is for children ages 3 years old (must be potty trained) through 5th grade and will be held during the week of July 9th -13th from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm. We have organized activities throughout the week including recreation, crafts, story, music, water fun day, magic show, a carnival, Knoxville Zoo, and much more. Children will be placed into small groups and will be well supervised by qualified adults. We will use safe sanctuary regulations to ensure your child’s safety.
 
Registration begins April 1st - the deadline to sign up is June 1st! There are limited spaces so please register early! To register, download the Community Outreach Day Camp Registration Form.

The United Methodist Women of Maryville invite all women to hear Rev. Gilbert Harris, who has been to Haiti four times.  He will be sharing his experiences, and telling us the current news of what is happening in the country of Haiti. 
We will be collecting the needed items requested for the 'Pillow Case Dresses' for children in Haiti.  See the article below for the list of items needed in the

Sew-In at Sevierville First United Methodist Church
Saturday, June 9, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
We will be creating Pillow Case Dresses to send to Haiti!  Start stocking up on new or gently used pillow cases and material.  Have a day at Sevierville United Methodist Church where women will bring in and donate material, pillow cases, and thread.
 
If you have any of the following items, please drop them off in the collection box outside of the church office or bring them with you that day:
pillow cases     thread (all colors)     pins     scissors     cutting boards
rotary cutters     bias tape     ribbon     irons     ironing boards    
portable sewing machines
 
If you have experience sewing, great!  Come on & bring a friend! 
Even if you are someone who has never picked up a needle and thread,
